VASK or Voters ASK

VASK is a mobile application that helped onsite PPCRV volunteers assist voters during the May 2022 Elections. VASK helped volunteers search for the clustered precinct of voters within their assigned municipalities and voting centers.

A voter only needed to provide the initials of his legal name and his birthdate to a PPCRV volunteer. Then, using VASK, the volunteer will search for the voter's clustered precinct.

Compared with the previous elections, where volunteers used hardcopy and pdf files, with VASK, the municipality precinct information is already stored on the mobile phone, and with a few taps the voter’s precinct data can be searched faster and in a more secure manner. With this new and innovative approach, more volunteers had immediate access to the precinct data through their mobile phone which is more portable than a laptop and easier to search than hardcopy files. As a result, more volunteers could assist and help shorten the waiting time of voters to get the information they needed to vote. VASK is also Data Privacy friendly as only birthdate and voters initials are required to search.

For the voting centers that used VASK, volunteers found it easier and faster to search for the voter’s info, without the need of a laptop nor internet. In some cases, when voters ended up in the wrong voting center but still in the right municipality, VASK also helped identify the correct voting center of the voter.

Aside from the exact search functionality, VASK allows you to specify particular voting centers to be in the scope of the search. It also provides a wildcard search on single of the voter’s initials, a help module and a check connectivity module to check the connection details of the app during the initial download of the VASK database.

VASK was developed by E-science in partnership with PPCRV. Requirements were provided by PPCRV and E-science designed and built the application. Before its release, in addition to the comprehensive testing requirements of E-science, VASK underwent user acceptance testing and external security testing by PPCRV volunteers.

VASK is a free app that runs on iOS 13 and up and Android 8 and up and was made available in the App Store and the Play Store.

VASK was brought to you by The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting and eScience to help voters in the May 2022 elections to find their clustered precincts easily and safely for a faster and much more efficient voting process. eScience is an IT company in the Philippines with 22 years of extensive experience and proven track record in developing mobile solutions that cater to various industries.
