E-Science Launches EPOS Top-Up Solution

E-Science Corp. has developed a prepaid "Top-up" system called E-POS that will allow POS (Point of Sale) terminals to be used to credit prepaid mobile accounts. When the E-POS system is connected to the Nokia IN, prepaid customers just need to enter their prepaid account and the amount they want credited to their mobile account and the information is sent to the Nokia IN for "Top-up". A confirmation receipt is printed on the POS terminal and given to the customer.

All successful transactions are posted on the E-POS web server. The operator may simply log on the E-POS web server and get the information required. Daily, weekly, and monthly reports plus other audit trails and logs may be accessed through the E-POS web.

The information sent by the POS is encrypted at the same time E-POS uses a dynamic key management system that authenticates each POS terminal preventing fraud and unauthorized use. Each POS has a unique terminal key and access card that identifies the user. The terminal key plus the access card must match in order to make a successful transaction. At the end of each day, the POS will do a settlement and reconcile all transactions made with the host system. This makes sure the POS terminal acknowledged all successful top-ups.

The POS terminals that are presently supported are: Ingenico, Schlumberger and Verifone. A successful top-up should take about 20 seconds or less. Customers can pay via cash and/or debit/credit card. The following information is printed on the POS terminal after the top-up: voucher numbers, mobile number, new account balance information, transaction reference number, date and time
